Recording Sound

Jackson brings decades of experience to the art of recording music. He has refined his craft over the years and can provide exceptional assistance in the record making process. He trained in recording arts at the College of Santa Fe in both analog and digital recording. He currently resides in Santa fe NM where he works out of his home studio producing, engineering and coaching creatives towards their musical dreams.

“Over many years of music production I have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of artists, genres and settings. After a while a certain type of client began to seek me out. Those with something healing, something meditative, either explicitly or veiled began to arrive. And something sacred began to evolve in the studio setting.. There was something about musing about change, about self, about resourcing and connecting, something chanted, something sang. I believe the act of recording music can be a flowing, sacred creative experience that is mired and greatly enhanced by technology. I find so much of making art is making space. I love helping artists manifest their sonic space. I’ve found that highly experienced artists and new artists looking to reveal a new aspect of themselves alike find me to work with. I love sharing this creative journey to the cutting edge as a shared experience of musicality.”

Mixing and Mastering

Mixing and Mastering can often times be the most daunting part of a recording process. Certainly the most complicated diy skill to learn.

I’ve spent decades honing my ears and tools to help take your project from a recording session to a finished record ready to be sent to press or distributed online.

Mixing is the process of taking all recorded/composed tracks and balancing to each other tonally, spatially and dynamically. Resulting in a track that is clean, energetic that translates across different listening devices.

Mastering is the process of treating the finished mix to meet industry standards of loudness, denoise and (if working on a collection of songs) balancing the volume, in-between track time and overall feel and flow of the album. Then generating high quality delivery ready files.
